Overview
The Signal Conditioning
“Brick” offers 8 fully independent channels of sensor excitation and
amplification. The brick consists of 4 boards; the front sensor board with
bridge resistors and sensor connectors (Lemo or UTP), 2
amplifier/excitation boards, and a rear board with power supplies and the
controlling PIC.
Each channel has an
independently programmable constant voltage/constant current supply for
sensor excitation. The noise floor of these supplies is below 40uV rms.
Each channel has an independently programmable amplifier, with a voltage
gain of x1/x10/x100. Each channel can be dc or ac coupled, and has a
bandwidth from dc to 100kHz. The amplifiers are very low noise, even with
a shorted input and in x100 gain mode, the noise at the output is below
250uV rms.
There are no jumpers for
channel configuration, everything is controlled via an I2C interface. The
brick stores it’s own calibration values for dc offset correction and sets
it’s dc offset correction depending on chosen gain mode. |
