Overview
Duet is a dual-DSP coprocessor board which
features a 4M or 5M Virtex-II Pro user reconfigurable FPGA, plus a
PMC/XMC module site with JN4 and Rocket I/O connectivity to the
baseboard Virtex FPGA. Unusually dense and small, Duet is packaged
as a 3U cPCI board with an advanced architecture that provides
superb inter-processor connectivity and direct hardware access to
high-performance PMC-based external analog and communications
modules, to deliver blazing performance and extreme flexibility for
advanced signal capture and real-time processing applications.
The board features dual C6416 DSPs interconnected via dedicated,
bidirectional, 800 MB/s FIFO links. Each processor enumerates as a
32-bit peripheral on a local 33 MHz PCI bus providing
bridge-isolated access to the PMC module site from either or both
processors simultaneously. A The large, Virtex II-Pro FPGA is
directly accessible by each processor at rates to 260 MB/s via EMIF-B
or by an installed PMC module via the dedicated 64-bit JN4 or
rocketI/O interfaces. This supports a myriad of data flow scenarios,
including preprocessing of PMC data by the Virtex II loic prior to
post-processing by one or both DSPs. Multiple Velocia-family (Duet,
Quadia and Quixote) baseboards may be assembled into an
arbitrarily-large meshes using dedicated rocket I/O or SFP links or
via communications via the PCI system bus.
Duet is an ideal platform for integrating high performance DSP and
I/O into advanced signal processing, data acquisition and real-time
applications such as telecom, RADAR, SONAR and wireless
communications. Top-level performance and amazing flexibility and
ease-of-use are obtained through an innovative integration of the
most advanced DSP and logic devices, large independent logic chips
exclusively for use by the end-user, and the best utilization of
today’s high-speed communication protocols.
