Low Cost PC Data Acquisition Systems and Logging on PCI

Overview
ChicoPlus is a Data Acquisition PCI Board loaded with I/O features that make the card ideal for a large variety of jobs. These include: Data Logging, Data Acquisition Systems, Arbitrary Waveform Generation, High Speed Data Acquisition. Each ChicoPlus may host two Data Acquisition OMNIBUS I/O modules, which offer simultaneous multichannel analog and digital I/O suitable for the most demanding applications.

ChicoPlus also has a set of standard peripherals which includes: 32 bits of digital I/O, two timer/counters, super-accurate programmable clock (DDS), automatic gain/channel list, FIFOPort for multicard interfacing, and ClkLink/SyncLink for multicard synchronization.

A typical Data Acquisition System built with ChicoPlus might be for a Vibration Monitoring system with 128 channels of 195ksps 16 bit samples. This would require 4 ChicoPlus boards and 8 AD16 boards. Each AD16 provides 16 channels of upto 195ksps simultaneous sampling, note this is not a board with a single ADC and an analogue multiplexor like some cheap boards on the market. ChicoPlus has a DDS that could be used to provide the master clock to all ADC channels and a clock distribution called SyncLink & ClockLink, thus maintaining synchronised simultaneous sampling across all channels!

ChicoPlus is also available as a 3U cPCI format with just one Data Acquisition OMNIBUS I/O module site called cChicoPlus. The cChicoPlus board provides the star clock and trigger signals on the backplane as per the PXI standard. Therefore cChicoPlus can be used to build PXI Data Acquisition and Logging Systems.

Free Turnkey Apps
Turnkey data acquisition & playback applications are included in the ChicoPlus DevPack to provide a true, out of the box, plug-n-play, data acquisition solution. These Windows XP/2000 executables, are also provided in source form and may be used as a stepping stone for custom application development.

Software Development
System Developers can choose from the following platforms:

• Visual C++: MFC classes and example project files with source code.
• Borland C++ Builder: VCL Components and project files with source code.
• DASYLab: Fully graphical development interface. (limited support)

ChicoPlus is also supported by Real Time System Editor, a software application for building data acquisition and logging systems without the need to write your own code.
